You wanted to know the time?

Information screen on a Shanghai metro platform. It displays the time until your train arrives, the time until the train after that, the time at the moment, and the all-important Champions League (season-long pan-European pro-soccer tournament) highlights. Usually when I get there, it's only showing ads.

San Fran's BART has some excellent "when will my train arrive" signage. Brooklyn's L subway line is starting to get pretty good at it. Every now and then it says something off by a multiple of somewhere from 3-7, but at least at that point you know it's dead wrong (like, the next train will arrive in 28 minutes!)

Whoa... are you dissing the Champions' League? As my maintenance man Barry notes, there are three English Premier League teams remain alive in the semifinals - it's epic. Hell, the best part of being unemployed is watching the games.

Besides, Champions league games occur for two days twice a month. I think you can suffer through a 4 day binge of football.

    Huh?

No, I haven't seen the movie, and yes, I chose the name anyway.  I'm told an Asian woman with green eyes is a plot point.
