Who wants to navigate?

Well, you can't, because I'm already back from the trip. But I thought it might be useful to provide a map for context, and so that you can all play along at home.

As I said, we started in Kunming. I know it's not the best map on the planet, but if you can't find Kunming, this is going to be a long trip, and it's a good thing you're not really navigating. But if you're really having trouble, it's in the center. The Stone Forest (Shilin) is nearby, just to the southeast.

For reference, though I might remind you as we go, the rest of the route is as follows: return to Kunming and follow the black road WNW to Dali. Take the red route north, hugging Erhai Lake, veering off to go to Lijiang. Appreciate the beauty of Yulong Snow Mountain despite its tendency to hide amidst clouds, and keep going northwest to Zhongdian. Zhongdian is also known as Shangri-La. Consider how unlike Shanghai this region is. Go even further northwest to Deqen (or Deqin, but I'll go with the map in this instance), close to the Tibetan border. Marvel at the 22,000-ft monster that is Meili Snow Mountain, and try not to freeze (did you pack your altitude-sickness medicine??). Retreat to Zhongdian, and then fly back to Kunming (trust me, you're tired of being on the bus).

    Huh?

No, I haven't seen the movie, and yes, I chose the name anyway.  I'm told an Asian woman with green eyes is a plot point.
