Useful phrases 01/30/2008
 

I got my new textbook today.  One of its selling points is that it's "concise, practical, authentic, and topical."  I wonder which one of these lessons I'll find more useful.

I think you should instead seek out a textbook that is "prolix, overreaching, superannuated, and vague", like a
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_As_She_Is_Spoke
Chinese as She is Spoke.

Can you say "My hovercraft is full of eels" in Chinese yet?

Haha. Although I'm pretty sure I know what that link refers to, here's a tidbit for you: Wikipedia is blocked from here. As are blogspot and livejournal. However, I have no problem accessing the NYT, WP, and LAT. Maybe you can check Wikipedia and tell me what that's all about ;-)
